We’ve been getting a lot of messages lately asking the same question:
“What happened to Teddy?”
And more importantly—“Why did Teddy need surgery?”
So here’s a full update for everyone who’s been worried.
A few days ago, Teddy started acting… off. At first, it didn’t seem serious. He was just a little quieter than usual, skipping his zoomies and choosing to rest more. We thought maybe he was just tired or having a slow day.
But then things changed.
Teddy stopped eating his favorite meals. He didn’t get excited for treats. Even when Roo tried to play with him, he barely reacted. That’s when we knew this wasn’t just a lazy day—something was wrong.
We took him to the vet immediately.
After an initial checkup, the vet noticed Teddy’s stomach area was sensitive. He winced when touched, something he never does. They ran some tests and did an X-ray—and that’s when they found the problem.
Teddy had swallowed something he shouldn’t have.
We’re not exactly sure what it was—possibly part of a toy or something small from the yard—but it had gotten stuck and was causing a blockage. This is very dangerous for dogs and can quickly become life-threatening if not treated.
The vet told us surgery was necessary.
Hearing that word—surgery—was terrifying. Teddy has always been strong and playful, and suddenly he was lying there, tired and in pain, needing an operation. We didn’t hesitate, though. We trusted the vet and knew it was the only way to help him.
The hours during surgery felt endless.
We waited… and waited… checking our phones every few minutes. It’s hard to describe that kind of worry—the kind where your heart feels heavy, and all you can do is hope everything goes right.
Finally, we got the call.
The surgery was successful.
They were able to remove the object, and Teddy was stable. Hearing those words brought so much relief. It felt like we could finally breathe again.
When we visited him afterward, he was still groggy, but he recognized us. His tail gave the smallest wag, and that tiny movement meant everything. It was our Teddy, still fighting, still here.
Now he’s in recovery.
He’s resting, healing, and getting all the love he deserves. Roo has been incredibly gentle with him, staying close like she knows he needs comfort. We’re keeping things calm, giving him time, and following all the vet’s instructions carefully.
This experience has been a big reminder:
Dogs are curious. They explore the world with their mouths. And sometimes, even when you’re careful, accidents happen.
So please—keep an eye on your pets. Make sure small objects and unsafe toys are out of reach. It can make all the difference.
As for Teddy—he’s not fully back to his goofy, energetic self just yet…
But he’s getting there.
And that’s what matters most.
